Give chewing a safe, supervised outlet

Give chewing a safe, supervised outlet

Chewing choices need to fit the dog’s size, behavior and ability to break or swallow pieces.

Start with the setting

Remove unsafe household objects and offer suitable alternatives under supervision. Inspect toys frequently and discard damaged pieces.

Make the routine practical

A product described as durable is not indestructible. Ask your veterinary team about chewing choices when dental history or swallowing is a concern.

Review and adapt

Combine management with rewarding the right choice. Punishment after damage is discovered does not teach the dog what was available instead.

Keep a useful record

Write down what you tried, what changed and what you want to ask next. Community discussion can share experience, while individual health or behavior concerns need appropriately qualified help.
