A predictable first week gives a newly adopted dog time to learn the home without a crowded social calendar.
Start with the setting
Set up a quiet bed, drinking water and a simple route to the toilet area. Keep visitors and introductions limited at first.
Make the routine practical
Use the food and routine you have been given while you arrange any changes with the care team. Record appetite, toilet habits and comfortable rest.
Review and adapt
Reward small successes and allow retreat. An adult rescue dog may need as much patience as a puppy; progress does not follow a fixed three-day timetable.
Keep a useful record
Write down what you tried, what changed and what you want to ask next. Community discussion can share experience, while individual health or behavior concerns need appropriately qualified help.
